Self-Romance

My thoughts on Seember’s thought-provokingWhat Makes You Loveable?” inspired this post.

My self-love started when I realised that seeking validation from others was not absolutely necessary.

I love how when I make an extra effort to upgrade myself, appearance-wise, character-wise and skills-wise, I am sensitive enough to notice an improvement and give myself a pat on the back.

I love my child-like glee when I realise that God has answered a casually mentioned prayer.

I love how I dance shamelessly in my car, regardless of who is watching, when there’s a “correct” song playing on the radio.

I love my loud, hearty, no-holds-barred laughter.

I love how I enjoy paying people compliments, their smiles really warm my heart.

I love how I genuinely empathize with people.

I love my DIY skills, Heck! if I can do it myself, I’m not paying anyone to do it for me.

I love my sense of self-sufficiency.

I love how I appreciate the little things…

Well, here’s my self-declaration, with no narcissistic undertone whatsoever,- Gosh!  I really am so loveable XD

“It truly starts with oneself, there’s just a certain way you’d carry yourself that will make it hard for anybody else to not fall in line” – Seember

I agree with this perspective,  your self-love should radiate so blindingly that people will need to put on their dark Ray-Bans and conform, lol.

Feeling myself

Feeling myself

Anyway,  this gorgeous fabric that I recently purchased is totally feeling itself.   It’s a soft lace in the most demure ivory colour that will make even the most aloof bride giddy with excitement. The pretty floral pattern literally made my heart skip a beat the moment I saw it, and I cannot wait to show you what I plan to sew.

So, what makes you loveable to YOU? 🙂

    1. A sense of contentment is truly the root of happiness.

Lol @ “…hate mediocrity”, I can relate with this, why settle for less?

      Your self-loves are great! 🙂

  3. Hmmmn, self love wasn’t something our flesh understood in the best way possible and if there was any opportunity, it was for selfish reasons. But I’m glad God’s love for me changes that perspective and makes me see that I can only love myself because He loved me first.

And so I’m getting to love myself because of the woman God is turning me into each and everyday. I know there are somethings Itunu cannot do without God in Her life and so when His love compels me to do certain things which seem hard for my flesh to comprehend, I’m grateful He’s there at least.

I enjoyed this post sha 🙂 And yes, I think I’m growing to love myself no apologies whatsoever. I haven’t completed the journey but I know with time, I’ll bloom.

    1. Hello Itunu,

Oh! the reassurance of God’d unconditional love is beautiful. I agree wholeheartedly with you, if God finds me worthy of such love, then there must be something loveable about me.

Thank you so much for your depthful comment. 🙂

  4. I love alot of things about myself, I won’t turn your comments section into my first unpublished novel with the list 🙂 I would however like to share what I have recently come to love about myself: My ability to see the world with my heart; whilst my eyes present me with the basic facts, my heart tells me a bigger story. I find myself drawing inspiration from the most “mundane” things because of my heart’s vision. It’s a beautiful experience.

By the way, I found myself nodding at all the things you listed. Not only because I relate but because these qualities also shine through your blog. My favorite is the laugh! 🙂

  5. I think I’m loveable because:
    1. No matter what, I’ve cultivated the habit of laughing at myself.
    2. I’m a lot calmer than I used to be.
    3. I’m a cheap date (this one is being revised people, fair warning).
    4. I’m actually very organised and motivated when I decide to be.
    5. I’m (insanely) independent and quite self sufficient.
    6. I go out of my way to be fair and consistently to be the best representation of God that I can be.
I like your self romance too. It’s very important to be in tune with the person in the mirror. And to love them too. 👍

    1. Dear Uju,

I knew your comment would be nothing less than cheeky, your fair warning has been duly noted XD

I love the things you find loveable about yourself. Laughing at one’s self indicates that one doesn’t sweat the small stuff.

“It’s very important to be in tune with the person in the mirror. And to love them too” Indeed!!! Thank you for reading.

      Have a beautiful rest-of-the-week.

    1. Bookie dear, your bubbly, zest-for-life personality shines throughout your blog. I literally hear your excited voice and laughter whenever I read your posts.

Genuine compliments make both the recipient and the giver feel great, I’m not a fan of backhanded compliments, lol

Correct music all day, everyday! 🙂

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

  6. But, of course, you must dance when a correct song comes up. One is only human after all.

    I love that I’m a happy person.
I love that there are a lot of things I don’t care about.

    1. Hello Chuma,

Oh yes, music naturally stimulates the urge to dance especially when it’s deliciously rhythmic, But I find that most people aren’t unself-conscious enough to dance (like no one is watching) whilst sitting inside a car, in the full glare of total strangers. That’s the real magic.

I love that you are winning in the pursuit of happiness.

      Thank you for reading 🙂

      Have a nice weekend!

I love it when God answers my “thoughts”. Oh yes!!!

Thanks for this, Nedoux. You have inspired me to do a blog post on this. :*

    1. Dear Seember,

I am so glad that you visited. Thank you so much for the inspiration.

I really appreciate the depth behind “enjoying one’s own company”, as it removes one from the silliness of being too needy or clingy.

Ah! your self-romance is the real deal 😀
